Here’s a project we’re particularly proud of: our work with Duraproducts on the Durachannel.
This is an injection-moulded linear drainage channel manufactured from recycled plastics, designed to provide high-flow drainage for large areas like car parks and runways.
Duraproducts came to RF3 Design with initial concept sketches and specifications. From there, we developed a full 3D CAD model, iterating and reviewing regularly with the team to make sure every design goal was met.
Throughout the process we made sure the design was optimised for injection moulding, which is critical at this early stage to avoid expensive problems down the line.
Once the model was approved, we released the 3D CAD data to the toolmakers and continued to support both Duraproducts and the toolmaking team through the tooling process to ensure a smooth transition into production.
After sign-off, we also produced the full supporting documentation: 2D component drawings and installation details.
The Durachannel has since been installed at some impressive locations, including Everton FC’s new stadium!
